Annual Meeting Opening Session

The AOCS Annual Meeting & Expo is a premier international science and business form on fats, oils proteins, surfactants and related materials. Known for its extensive technical program, the Annual Meeting features more than 650 oral and poster presentations within 10 interest areas.

In addition to the three days of technical sessions, Annual Meeting features an Opening Celebration, Hot Topic Symposia, Expo, AOCS Governing Board Town Hall, and a variety of networking events, including a Member and Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon. The Annual Meeting provides ample opportunities for attendees to learn, connect with colleagues, engage with new business contacts and meet with exhibitors.

Over 1,500 professionals from more than 40 countries attend the Annual Meeting, representing the industry's most prestigious corporate, government and academic institutions.

What you should know before Annual Meeting

The meeting dates are Sunday, April 26 through Wednesday, April 29, 2020. The first event is the Opening Celebration, which begins at 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 26. Some events, including pre-meeting courses and committee meetings, will be held on Saturday, April 25, and Sunday, April 26, before the official start of the meeting.
Pre-registration will be open November 15, 2019 through April 20, 2020. Onsite registration opens at 10 a.m. on Sunday, April 26 inside the Palais des congrès de Montréal. Onsite registration is open Sunday–Wednesday.
This year’s main meeting venue is the Palais des congrès de Montréal in Montréal, Québec, Canada.
AOCS is offering a mobile event guide that allows registered attendees to build an itinerary, search presentations and abstracts, connect with other attendees, and much more! Information on how to access the app is included on your registration confirmation.
Annual Meeting registration includes hors d’oeuvres and beverages at the President’s Reception on Sunday and beverages at Happy Hour Receptions and five networking breaks throughout the week. Divisions, Sections and Common Interest Groups also host luncheons and dinners with tickets available for an additional fee.
Beginning April 15, abstracts will be available on the attendees only webpage and in the meeting App.   your registration confirmation.
Attire is business casual, and we encourage you to wear comfortable shoes. We also recommend you dress in layers, as temperatures in meeting rooms can vary.
Presentations will be available on inform|connect in the AOCS Premium Content Library after the meeting. It is up to the individual presenters whether they choose to make their presentations available after the meeting.

Please Note: Video, still photography and audio recording are strictly prohibited in all technical sessions. Video or still photography of poster presentations are prohibited, unless permission is granted by the author. Video or still photography of an exhibitor booth is prohibited, unless permission has been granted by the occupant. The only exception to the statements above is for working press with AOCS, provided press registration.
