Annual Meeting Opening Session

The AOCS Annual Meeting & Expo is a premier international science and business form on fats, oils proteins, surfactants and related materials. Known for its extensive technical program, the Annual Meeting features more than 650 oral and poster presentations within 12 interest areas. 

In addition to the three days of technical sessions, Annual Meeting features an Opening Plenary and Celebration, Hot Topic Symposia, Expo, Business Meeting, and a variety of networking events, including a 5K Fun Run/Walk and Member Appreciation Luncheon. The Annual Meeting provides ample opportunities for attendees to learn, reconnect with colleagues, engage with new business contacts and meet with exhibitors.

Over 1,500 professionals from more than 40 countries attend the Annual Meeting, representing the industry's most prestigious corporate, government and academic institutions.

Frequently Asked Questions

The official meeting dates are Sunday, May 5–Wednesday, May 8, 2019. The first official event is the Welcome Plenary Session, which begins at 4:15 pm on Sunday, May 5. Some events, including Short Courses and committee meetings, will be held on Saturday, May 4, and Sunday, May 5, before the official start of the meeting.
The main meeting venue is St. Louis, Missouri, USA.
Pre-registration will be open November 5, 2018–April 20, 2019. Onsite registration opens Sunday, May 5 at 10 am inside the St. Louis Convention Center. Onsite registration is open Sunday–Wednesday.
Annual Meeting registration includes hors d’oeuvres and beverages at the President’s Welcome Reception on Sunday and beverages at the Happy Hour Receptions. Divisions, Sections, and Common Interest Groups organize luncheons and dinners, and tickets are available for an additional fee.
Abstracts will be available on a webpage for attendees only and within The App beginning April 18, 2019. Information on how to access the abstracts is included on your registration confirmation.
AOCS is offering a mobile event guide that allows registered attendees to build an itinerary, search presentations and abstracts, connect with other attendees, and much more! Information on how to access The App is included on your registration confirmation.
Attire is business casual, and we encourage you to wear comfortable shoes. We also recommend you dress in layers, as temperatures in meeting rooms can vary.
Presentations will be available on inform|connect in the AOCS Premium Content Library after the meeting. It is up to the individual presenters whether they choose to make their presentations available after the meeting.
Video, still photography, and audio recording are strictly prohibited in all technical sessions. Video or still photography of poster presentations are prohibited, unless permission is granted by the author. Video or still photography of an exhibitor booth is prohibited, unless permission has been granted by the occupant. The only exception to the statements above is for working press with AOCS, provided press registration.
