Who is AOCS?

AOCS is a volunteer-led professional scientific membership organization providing current and emerging information. Our community shares research results and industrially relevant innovations in oils, fats, lipids, proteins, surfactants, and related materials. Many scientists, experts, and others engaged in these fields find their professional “home” in AOCS.

AOCS Divisions give members with similar technical interests a forum to exchange professional information, develop programs and maintain open lines of communication with peers. The Annual Meeting’s technical programming is divided into these same interest areas.

AOCS develops and publishes methods of analysis for fats, oils, proteins, surfactants, and related materials according to accepted international standards to ensure equitable trade practices on a global scale. The AOCS Annual Meeting & Expo provides a venue for meetings of the Expert Panels, Technical Leadership Committee and Uniform Methods Committee that develop and maintain the Official Methods and Recommended Practices of AOCS.
