Hot Topic Symposia and Featured Sessions

Hot Topic Symposia address how critical developments, both current and on the horizon, will impact the edible oils and fats, surfactants and detergents, plant proteins and related sustainable materials industries. Do you have a timely session idea you would like to see represented at the 2023 AOCS Annual Meeting & Expo that is not listed in the 2023 session list? We want to hear from you!

The call for Hot Topic Symposia proposals for the 2023 Annual Meeting & Expo is now open!

Submit your idea by March 1, 2023 to be considered as a Hot Topic Symposia session organizer at the upcoming meeting. We will notify you if your proposal was accepted within one month of receiving your completed form

Submission Guidelines

Due to the competitive nature of the selection process, we encourage prospective session organizers to submit a comprehensive proposal which includes a session description, list of quality speakers, and topics. Preference will be given to session proposals that are thorough, carefully considered and planned, and align with the purpose of the Hot Topic Symposia.

The session description and all presentations must be free of commercial content, including company logos, excessive references, tradenames, trademarked products, or product groups.

Registration and Travel Expenses

Organizers of accepted sessions are expected to attend the meeting Monday, May 1 at 8:25 a.m. MDT (Denver, USA; UTC-6). The sessions start with a 5-minute session introduction followed by a 2-hour session, totaling 125 minutes in duration. Session organizers and speakers are responsible for their own travel and accommodation expenses.
